necromancer, obsessed with destroying Daisy’s family, weakens the veil
the living and the dead, and the young Dream Catcher will lose her
unless the new coven can save the girl. The coven must invoke ancient
dangerous magick to protect everyone, but they could lose Daisy forever.
This past month, ghosts had become more solid to her, and she
didn’t have to use averted vision to see them now. Her new powers
seemed to be growing quickly.
As she moved past the dining area that led into
the kitchen, the air grew
dense, heavy. Pale nightlights mixed with the oven and microwave clocks
to illuminate the granite countertops, sending shadows onto the tile
floor. Shuffles sounded behind her as she walked, and the hairs on the
back of her neck stood up. She turned, prepared to see a ghost, but she
was alone. At least, she was the only one visible.
Shit. I hate when they do
this. “Who’s there? Show yourself.” She kept her voice low
but firm, the way Scarlet had taught her, but no one responded. Part of
her wanted to run into the guestroom and wake the medium. Oh, come on, Daisy Rhiannon.
You’re a grown witch. You can handle a few spooks. She
seemed to repeat that mantra a lot these days.
