From
The Rep...
He came
semi-awake in the night
lying propped up on the
hospital bed. His senses
tingled with the creepy
sensation of not being
alone. Something else
was in the room with
him, standing close over
the bed, watching him.
The bony
figure of a woman in a
shiny leather coat. Her
hair was a garish,
unnatural red color.
There was something
familiar about her that
frightened Price. He had
seen her someplace
before, but he
couldn’t remember
where.
In the
dim nightlight of the
room, he couldn’t see
her clearly. He raised
himself off the pillows
so that a shaft of light
from the corridor let
him see her better.
Her face
wasn’t there. In its
place was something
chalky white twisted
into a knotted,
featureless blur.
Price
screamed aloud. He kept
screaming until the
night nurse came in and
turned on the lights.
The
thing by the bed
wasn’t there anymore.
