A compelling read, as fraught with danger as Tolkien’s masterpiece [Lord of the Rings],
if not so elegantly refined and all-encompassing. I’d very much like to
read the sequel when it’s released to find out what happens next.

A goblin raised by a human
in a world (Terrath) where goblins are considered hostile and
dangerous. Wizards involving themselves in the affairs of humans,
elves, trolls, gnomes and dwarves in order to prevent a global race
war. Can he succeed and what has this one goblin got to do with
Alan Garner pens a story that captures the imagination and transports
you to a world with intrigue, tension and grumpy wizards. The
characters are clearly defined but the races of people do not
necessarily follow the common perception that many fantasy authors
At first I have to admit I was a little irritated by the split
infinitives, however, Garner's story soon triumphed my prejudice (A
theme within the story that demonstrates a multi-layered plot line).
Having found myself hooked, there was nothing for it but to buy book 2.
Fantasy lovers will not be disappointed. Garner is one of SynergEbooks’
growing stable of authors.
